HOTEL
Lion’s Rest is an eight-room boutique hotel situated right on the beach in an idyllic Sri Lankan fishing village. We offer a place of peace and retreat, looking out over the vast azure Indian Ocean, with easy access to the nightlife of resorts such as Mirissa and Unawatuna.
Take advantage of the in house yoga and surf instruction or simply kick back by the pool or in a hammock with a cool cocktail. Our restaurant is open all day and offers Sri Lankan and European cuisine to tempt any palate.
All rooms are air-conditioned. We have newly installed free fibre optic unlimited broadband in all areas to ensure all your streaming and remote working needs are covered.

We have two chill out areas with giant bean bags and hammocks; one by the pool and the other on the upper level with a view of the ocean. Projector movies are shown here of an evening and you can catch live satellite sports in the bar area.

Lion’s Rest, with its intimate surroundings, has proved to be a popular choice amongst solo travellers looking to mix with others, couples and family groups alike.
To fully unwind and get that holiday feeling, you might like to indulge in one of our Ayurvedic massages. Our fully qualified male and female masseuses offer deep tissue or flowing massage, using traditional hot oils to sooth away any lingering tensions.

ROOMS
The eight rooms at Lion’s Rest all provide Air Conditioning as standard. There are also powerful overhead fans in the rooms should A/C not be your preference.
All the upper level rooms have a communal balcony with seating and views over the grounds and the Indian Ocean apart from the Superior Room which is at the front of Lion's Rest with a front facing balcony. The two lower level rooms open onto the the pool and grounds.

The hand made teak four-poster beds come with high quality 9 inch sprung mattresses and high quality crisp linen to ensure a comfy night's sleep. The beds have mosquito nets although you'll be pleased to hear that we don’t have a problem with mosquitos here because of the sea breeze. The bathrooms are polished concrete and come equipped with a solar heated rain shower. All fixtures and fittings are of a European Standard.

The Superior Room
Maximum Occupancy 2 persons
We call this room the "Sunset Room", situated at the front of Lion’s Rest on the upper level, this room comes with A/C. It has a four-poster king-size bed with a high quality 9 inch sprung mattresses and crisp linen to ensure a comfy night's sleep. The bathroom is polished concrete and comes equipped with a solar heated rain shower. All fixtures and fittings are of a European Standard. Its balcony has views over the village green and the Indian Ocean. Whether checking out how Coconut’s Surf Break is performing or taking in a spectacular sunset, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy our beautiful location.

The Deluxe Room
Maximum Occupancy 3 adults or 2 adults/2 children
We have three Deluxe Rooms situated on the upper level of Lion’s Rest, two of which have four-poster queen-size beds. The third Deluxe Room has twin beds that can be turned into a king-size bed upon request. The beds come with high quality sprung mattresses and crisp linen to ensure a comfy night's sleep. All the Deluxe Rooms have a mezzanine level with another small double bed. The bathrooms are polished concrete and come equipped with a solar heated rain shower. All fixtures and fittings are of a European Standard. The communal balcony has seating area with views over the pool and grounds, the Indian Ocean and Coconuts Surf Break.
The Pool Double
Situated on the ground level at Lion’s Rest, The Pool Double opens onto the pool area. The room offers A/C and a powerful overhead fan to suit your preference. The four-poster double bed comes with a high quality sprung mattresses and crisp linen to ensure a comfy night's sleep. The bathroom is polished concrete and comes equipped with a solar heated rain shower. All fixtures and fittings are of a European Standard.
The Garden Room
Maximium Occupancy 3 persons
The garden room is situated on the ground level at Lion’s Rest and opens onto the garden and pool area. The room has a four-poster king-size bed and a single bed with high quality sprung mattresses and crisp linen to ensure a comfy night's sleep. The room offers A/C and a powerful overhead fan to suit your preference. The bathroom is polished concrete and comes equipped with a solar heated rain shower. All fixtures and fittings are of a European Standard. Outside the room there is a private patio area with two plantation chairs and a dining table where our team will be happy to serve you.
Family Room 6
Maximum Occupancy 6 persons
The Large Family Room on the upper level of Lion’s Rest boasts two king-size four-poster beds with high quality sprung mattresses and crisp linen to ensure a comfy night's sleep. With a mezzanine level above with another double and a single mattress, the room has plenty of space for a large group or family . The room offers A/C and a powerful overhead fans to suit your preference. The bathroom is polished concrete and comes equipped with a solar heated rain shower. All fixtures and fittings are of a European Standard. There is a communal balcony outside. There is also access to the sun deck hammock-area with views over the pool, grounds and the Indian Ocean.
Family Room 7

The Family Room on the upper level of Lion’s Rest boasts two king-size four-poster beds and a single bed with high quality sprung mattresses and crisp linen to ensure a comfy night's sleep. The room offers A/C and a powerful overhead fans to suit your preference. The bathroom is polished concrete and comes equipped with a solar heated rain shower. All fixtures and fittings are of a European Standard. Plenty of storage space is provided. The balcony outside has seating and there is easy access to the sun deck hammock-area which has views over the pool, grounds and the Indian Ocean
Food
Providing authentic Sri Lankan food along with a variety of western dishes to suit all palates, the Lion’s Restaurant prides itself on the freshness and quality of the food it produces. The Sri Lankan breakfast is always a popular choice to start the day after an early morning surf. We offer fine vegetarian/vegan options and of course the curries at Lion’s Restaurant are plentiful, varied and mouth-wateringly delicious.

Our Chefs source all the ingredients locally. The fresh fish we buy direct from our local village fisherman and from Mirissa market. Other produce comes from the travelling fruit and vegetable market, where all the local growers proudly sell their specialized organic produce. The travelling vegetable market is well worth a visit and so is Mirissa Harbour for the early morning fish market where you can watch the boats landing their deep-sea catch and see the auction that follows.

Apart from turning out delicious food from the menu, our Chefs put on our famous weekly fish-barbecue buffet which always delights. On our curry-buffet nights a choice of eight or more authentic Sri Lankan curries are prepared with an array of fish meat and vegetarian options available, all served by our Chefs who are happy to explain the dishes.

Quench your thirst with the array of fresh tropical juices on offer and of course Sri Lanka's famous Lassies which combine Buffalo Curd and fresh fruits blended together to create a the ultimate smoothie. Enjoy an ice cold Lion Beer in a frozen glass at the bar, or a Cocktail to take up on the deck to enjoy the sunset.
